About Our Shala
Welcome to Yoga Shala Canterbury
“Shala” is a Sanskrit word meaning “house” or “home.” Yoga Shala Canterbury was created as a small, welcoming home for practice – a place where people can explore yoga with steadiness, curiosity and ease.
Our approach is rooted in traditional teachings, and we aim to keep the practice authentic and respectful of its origins while avoiding rigid or dogmatic attitudes. Everyone is encouraged to move at their own pace, ask questions and experience the practice in a way that feels natural.
Our space is cosy, which naturally keeps our groups smaller. This gives students more individual attention, clearer guidance and a quieter atmosphere to focus and grow. It also helps each person feel supported and able to develop their practice in a safe and steady way.
Whether you come to build strength, find more balance or simply enjoy some time for yourself, you are welcome here. Each teacher brings care, experience and respect for the tradition while making the practice accessible for modern life.
