First 2 sessions: Monday 22nd and 29th September, 6:30 – 7:45 pm
Last 2 sessions: Choose any two Ashtanga Yoga Mysore sessions from our weekly timetable before the end of October.

This course is designed to help you feel confident about joining Mysore classes and to experience the benefits of developing a self-practice.
The first two sessions (Monday 22nd and 29th September) will introduce the Mysore method in a beginner-friendly setting, covering the key aspects of this approach. For the final two sessions, you’ll be invited to book any of our regular weekly Mysore classes to experience the method in its traditional setting, alongside other practitioners. This will allow you to truly experience the essence of the Mysore style.

The Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Method is a unique and traditional way of learning and practising Ashtanga Yoga, based on self-paced progress under the guidance of a teacher. Unlike a typical led class, the Mysore style allows students to move through the sequence at their own pace, gradually memorising and building the practice over time.
In this method, students receive individual attention, with the teacher offering personalised adjustments, guidance, and encouragement. It is suitable for all levels—from complete beginners to experienced practitioners—because the practice is tailored to each person’s needs, experience, and ability.
The Mysore Method nurtures independence, consistency, and a deep connection to the practice. It offers an opportunity to cultivate focus, discipline, and presence both on and off the mat.

Strength Flexibility yoga Canterbury

We’re excited to announce a new Share & Grow event!

As always, we’ll explore different aspects of yoga, with a special focus on a key theme—this time, Backbends! After the session, you’re welcome to join us in town for a cuppa and a chat—a lovely way to stay connected with our small community.

Here’s what to expect roughly:

  • 30 mins – Sitting Meditation & Pranayama
  • 45 mins – Mysore-style practice (assisted self-practice). You’ll work through as much of your practice as time allows.
  • 45 mins – Led Backbending & Finishing. We will borrow some simple backbends from the intermediate series and combine them with extra drills to prepare ourselves for Urdhva Dhanurasana (Full Wheel Pose) and optional backdrops. As always, it’s fine to do as much as it feels right.
  • 15 mins – Relaxation

Cost: We offer sliding-scale pricing to accommodate different financial situations. Choose a ticket option that fits your budget and acknowledges the energy and effort we bring to this offering.
